undefinedThe Forum, Towcester

It hosts South Northants Council offices and Northamptonshire County Council’s Library Plus and Registrar. It will also be a hub for community groups, residents, visitors and tourists. The Forum is part of a wider regeneration project.

Demco Interiors was the consultant for the design and specification at the start of the project and was subsequently nominated as FF&E contractor for the new Library Plus and registration services.

The library has a 580 sq m footprint and seamlessly blends with council services and offices through a design-led atrium, using crossover items such as glass display units and book stands.

The library space is discretely divided into zones using subtle colour themes: the children’s area a pink colour theme and then transitioning further into the space with LibraryPlus greens and purples.

The stylish white concealed storage walls were designed and manufactured by Demco. The high gloss finish makes them usable as a whiteboard for displaying messages, posters and artworks.

Pockets of space are used for soft seating and soft spots so that visitors can do their own ‘nesting’. The fabrics used throughout are anti-bacterial wipe clean vinyl, but with the look, feel, colour and design of fabric. Although there is a lot included in the space the clever design always makes it feel spacious and light with places to discover throughout the library.

The hireable pods, with flexible furniture to accommodate different groups, will be used by the local CAB, for internal meetings, by community groups.
