Described as the ‘wormhole’ library, the curved concrete construction is designed as a multi-functional building where visitors can read, attend outdoor performances or just enjoy the sea views.
The wormholes, of varying size and intervals, provide surprise and let in natural light. As well as provision for around 10,000 books, the library has bicycle parking facilities, bathrooms and showers.
This is one of a series of planned pavilions along the coast. The library is due to open in 2021.
