The UK government's Libraries Taskforce has published some helpful online guidance to resources in this developing field.
It includes links to 14 locations in England and a couple of case studies, along with a list of local library services in process of developing funded initiatives.
There is a short guide to the literature, some international examples and links to a number of useful organisations.
Makerspaces were pioneered in the USA. You can find more resources reflecting that developmental history in Makerspace Resources published by John Burke via the link on the right.
