Mayor of Merton Councillor Mary Curtin said: “I am delighted to open the borough’s first children’s sensory library. I am really pleased that our children and their families will benefit from this new area.”
Merton Council’s cabinet member for community and culture, Councillor Nick Draper, added: “Libraries are no longer just a place to sit in silence and read a book – they are also community areas where people can learn, play and explore. The new sensory library is another illustration of Merton as a great place for families. Our award-winning library service goes from strength to strength and we are thrilled that we are finding innovative ways to help children learn to read and build their communication skills, giving them the best foundations to develop.”
