The Curve, by bblur architecture, is the centrepiece of the 'Heart of Slough' regeneration scheme.

The £22million building will house a new central library, community learning rooms, the registrar services including a wedding room, a 280-seat performance and multi-use space, café and garden area.

The concept, which received planning permission in 2010, creates a building as a flared accommodation ‘tube’ with welcoming fully glazed entry facades on the east and west which open onto two new public squares, created at each end of the building. These public spaces anchor the building in the heart of the town centre, providing safe external space for use by the building.

The ground floor planning of the building creates a new daytime pedestrian internal ‘street’ and short cut between William Street and Mackenzie Square encouraging footfall through and into the building. (Source: bblur architecture)
