Norbury Library, Croydon
The newly refurbished library has re-opened in its carefully restored 1930s building.
Re-furbished Norbury Library re-opens
Following three years of consultation, design and construction undertaken by Bisset Adams for Croydon Council, Thedesignconcept won the tender to furnish Norbury Library in Croydon with library shelving and furniture.
Norbury Library had just been extensively refurbished both inside and out. The 1930s listed building was carefully restored to the building's original features including parquet flooring and a beautiful vaulted ceiling.
We worked closely with Croydon council to ensure we met the new strategy with the aim to make Norbury Library fit to attract new users, creating a consistent visual identity and reinforcing the message of change and resurgence.
Our shelving and furniture provided complemented the original colour scheme.
Some new services in the library now include new study and PC work space, brilliant new children’s library for family use and young readers, and a new café area.
