Grantown Library is situated in the newly refurbished Grantown Courthouse, an attractive, historic building in the busy town square. The library shares the space with The Highland Council’s Service Point, which provides access to various council services and information.

The library was relocated to this building in 2022, after a redesign funded by The Highland Council. The redesign aimed to reflect the new vision for libraries in the Highlands, where libraries operate as “community hubs”, providing residents with multiple reasons to visit while encouraging them to spend more time and derive more benefit from their visit.

The library has a collection of over 10,000 items, including books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and e-books. The library also offers access to digital resources such as online newspapers, magazines, and databases.

Activities

The library is not only a place for reading and learning, but also for socializing and having fun. The library hosts various activities and events throughout the year, such as book clubs, craft sessions, talks, exhibitions, and more. One of the most popular activities is the Bookbug Sessions, which take place every Monday morning from 11:00 to 11:30. These are fun sessions for babies and toddlers and their parents or carers, where they can enjoy songs, stories and rhymes led by trained and talented staff. The sessions are free and have 10 places available for each week. Another popular activity is the Lego Club, which takes place every Monday from 15:30 to 16:00. This is a creative session for children aged 5 to 12 years old, where they can build their own Lego creations and share them with others.
