Description
The Forum Southend-on-Sea is a joint enterprise between Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, the University of Essex and the South Essex College of Further & Higher Education. Due for completion in August 2013 it will provide a new public and academic library for the town, a new teaching facility for the College and new research and learning facilities for the University. The GBP27m project will also deliver a new home for the Focal Point Gallery, a new cafe and lecture theatre and a 6.2m x 3.5m outdoor LED screen to show selected cultural and sporting events. The Council is providing GBP12.5m towards the cost of the scheme, one of the first of its kind in the country, with the University contributing GBP10.4m and the College GBP4m.
