This was a 1053 sq m extension on one floor plus 2852 sq m refurbishment on two other floors.

Refurbished floors include open access PCs, lending and enquiry services and incorporates the Wolfson Technology Centre.

The new floor houses the Special Collections Department, with a reading room and a stack area designed to comply with BS5454 - 1989 - Storage and Exhibition of Archival Materials, and a high density storage area with mobile shelving. This fully air conditioned stack contains 10k linear metres of 3 metre high mobile shelving.

Most reader places either have, or are wired for networked IT provision.
