Description
Description
Longsight Library was a long, dark, red-brick building prior to its transformation. It is now a sleek glass box, flooded with light and filled with brightly coloured furniture. The library has been remodelled inside and out, from its newly glazed facade and street furniture to its double-height atrium and new 17-person lift access.
There are more computers than ever, comfortable places to relax and customers can issue and return their own books. There's a brand new children's library, a dedicated Homework Centre for out-of-school study, baby changing and a Headspace for young people.
The first floor houses an ultra-modern Adult Learning Centre with an IT suite, well-equipped classrooms and comfortable break-out areas. A meeting room and kitchen, also on the first floor, allow flexible use by the local community.
