Wombourne Library
A village re-imagined
Step into a space where Wombourne starts to take shape around you.
In the children’s library, the village has been re-imagined. Building-shaped bookcases line the space like familiar streets, with subtle nods to local businesses and landmarks throughout.
At the centre, a feature inspired by Wombourne’s own cricket field brings a real sense of play and energy into the heart of the space, something that already feels instantly recognisable.
There’s history here too..
Originally built in the 1960s, the design reconnects to the building’s past through colour and pattern, subtle but intentional, and part of what gives the space its character.
As you move through the library, that connection deepens. From a full-height historic image of Wombourne to smaller details that keep everything rooted in the community.
Flexible, adaptable, and designed for real use, the space is already beginning to support everything from quiet moments to more active, shared experiences.
More than a refurbishment, it’s a space shaped by its place, its past, and the people who use it.
