Fairwater library in Cardiff has reopened its doors following a £245,000 refurbishment.

4 March 2011

The library was closed for four months during the refurbishment which includes a new look exterior and interior with modern furnishings and updated fittings. It is hoped that the new library will be more welcoming.

The refurbishment was possible due to a £120,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly Government after bidding successfully for their libraries for life programme as well as £125,000 from Cardiff council.

Other work undertaken includes improved disabled access, better IT facilities, free WiFi, replenished book stock, a new community room, new children's area, an out of hours book return unit, new public toilets with baby changing facilities and new landscaping.
