£320,000 of the grant will go to the National Library of Wales to provide online resources, including newspapers and cross-catalogue searching.

The funding will also allow the library to buy family history resources for libraries and museums across Wales.

Nine libraries will benefit from an award of £1m for modernisation. Swansea University will get £76,000 to open up public access to its archives relating to the steel making industry.
