The toolkit and supporting articles are designed to analyse the challenges and illustrate best practice, and provide inspiration for the interplay of space and functionality. This is done in a visual format where brief texts are supported by photos, figures and basic design principles.

The navigable topics cover the various changing roles of the library - as a learning space, an inspiration space, a meeting space, a performance space, a digital space and an urban space.

It addresses a comprehensive range of design challenges arising from the thinking about the changing role of libraries - from displaying collections and modelling services to different user needs to zoning, self-service, multifunctional usage, and the design of children's and staff areas.

The site provides a wealth of case studies that illustrate some of the successes of Denmark's public library spaces.
