Exeter's new central library development

Construction work has begun to transform Exeter Central Library into a first class facility for information, learning and culture.

22 April 2013

The £4m investment by Devon County Council underpins an ambitious scheme to improve the 1960s building and provide better accessibility, more space for children, a café, meeting and performance spaces and improved spaces for learning and study.

Further environmental controls and sustainability features will be introduced to address some of the issues the building has suffered. The plan will integrate the library into the cultural quarter of Exeter close to the Museum, Phoenix Arts Centre and Exeter Castle.
