New look library for Christchurch

A £2m extension and refurbishment of the town centre library in Christchurch, Dorset, is nearing completion, with the library set to reopen next month.

18 April 2013

The extension has created a 60 per cent increase in space and the opportunity to provide more facilities, including community meeting rooms - and more books.

Adult learning services will be relocated to the new library. Paul Leivers, Dorset's head of service, is quoted as saying: 'The £2million investment gave us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transform the building into one of the best libraries in the county. Incorporating adult learning facilities into the same building means that we can offer a one stop venue for learning and reading in the heart of the town centre.'
