Atkinson Centre library opens in Southport

Four years in the making, the new library in Southport opens its doors with more books and a revitalised children's area.

A 'much needed' new library has opened in the Atkinson Centre, a regional cultural centre for the arts in Southport, replacing the temporary library and providing residents with a wider range of stocks and services.

The introduction of self-service will provide an out of hours return and renewal service.

A revamped children's area is a major feature of the new library. The library shares space with the art gallery and tourist information centre.
