New £27.5m library for University of Leeds

The University of Leeds is to build an ambitious new library at a cost of £27.5m, after planning permission was approved.

11 February 2013

Work on the four-storey development will begin in July, with a planned opening in 2015.

The university’s librarian Stella Butler said the new facility would help students to study online, work in groups or in the traditional way from textbooks.

“It will have attractive, flexible and varied spaces to accommodate different learning styles, and is designed to support group work through appropriate spaces and integrated technology, as well as providing a large number of seats for silent study.”
