Library users pitch for their ideal library

Hereford Library Users' Group is campaigning for its own 'Hive' by documenting its vision for a 'landmark centre' with a library at its heart.

21 January 2013

In an authoritative four page statement, published by the Hereford Civic Society, the Group defines the modern public library, its facilities and services in no uncertain terms, illustrating best practice with examples of libraries from Peckam to The Hive, Cardiff to Winchester and libraries in the Netherlands.

The document calls for an integrated centre for library, information, cultural and civic services. 'Bringing together all these community aspects creates a cultural focus with considerable benefits to both the local population and visitors. It enhances economic development and regeneration and attracts incoming businesses by making the area a better place to work and live.'
