Learning resource centres to benefit from funding

The Skills Funding Agency is investing £110m in FE college buildings, which will be more than matched with £302m from the 56 colleges who will benefit.

Two new learning resource centres feature in the grant awards list, which can be found on the Department for Business Innovation & Skills website. They are:

Loughborough College. A £13m New Learning Resource Centre and Specialist Learning Facility: construction of 5,250 sq.m. and demolition of 5,952 sq.m. of outdated and unfit for purpose accommodation. The project will provide new specialist learning environments and a new Learning Resources Centre.

Hartpury College. A £3m new building for Independent Learning Skills: construction of a single energy efficient building of 1,372 sq.m. in the centre of the main campus to provide a FE Learning Resource and A level study centre. The new accommodation will replace 1,745 sq.m. of space which is currently in an inoperable condition and create a modern learning resource facility dedicated to FE students and designed to foster independent learning skills.
