£157k Briercliffe Library revamp begins

Refurbishment work has begun at Briercliffe Library in Lancashire. The £157,000 refurbishment work started at the end of January and is expected to be completed by May.

The library, originally built in 1974, is being given a complete facelift with new shelves, automatic doors, carpets, comfy seats and a new front counter. A wi-fi connection will also be installed, and there is a possibility of the introduction of a self-service system in the future.

The library currently occupies half of the building but will expand into the area formerly occupied by the health clinic. This expansion will provide more room for books, newspapers, a drinks machine, more public computers, a larger children’s area and more room for activities and events.
