Miriam Lord

Under the strong leadership of the Head Teacher the school has introduced some visionary learning spaces for children to gain academic and life skills.

Demco has worked with the school management team to create a Continuous Provision Area for children in Years One and Two and a brand new library.

For the Continuous Provision Area Demco stepped back to see this as a very different space to a traditional classroom or library. The design team designed the areas and sourced all the furnishings, from split level cooking hobs to wet play furniture, to pots and pans and taps.

The new library with its pink elephants, motivating signage, hideaway wigwam, ‘Imagine’ den with iPad shelf, retractable IT desking and bespoke curved shelving sets the standard for a creative, inspiring school library.

The Hub: a multi-media facility

In a second phase of the design scope, Demco has created a new bespoke multi-media space developed from the initial sketched-out ideas of the deputy head teacher.

Children are now broadcasting live from their brand new recording studio and radio station. The radio station and green screen facilities are believed to be the first of their kind in a Bradford primary school, entirely funded by the school.

Demco worked with the school team on the four areas of The Hub: the Silver Street green screen studios, a radio station, a Wii area and an animation zone, all incorporating professional audio, studio and software technology with in-house camera equipment and lights.

The Hub is in the middle of the school and children from all years have the opportunity to use the equipment and be part of their very own live broadcasts. The Hub has captured the interest of schools locally and nationally.
